We start our journey on August 7th. The plane flight is long and we lose track of each other for a moment in Hawaii because David is detained by customs. Something to do with the fruit he is carrying for us to snack on. We finally get reunited at the gate. Continue our flight and end up in Canada.
As we are flying into Canada David notices that it looks like Second Life from the air. The way that the farm plots are divided. We laugh about how familiar it looks.
When we get to the airport we realize we don't have Laura's phone number. So we wait for our bags and hope we recognize her and better yet hope she recognizes us.
About 5 minutes of waiting she walks up to David and they embrace. Yaaay!
Laura takes us to her Lake Home which is a holiday and weekend destination for her and her family. This would be the beginning of lots of Kahlua and milk and Jim Beam and coke days and nights....We even tried something with Tomato juice and something...I don't remember...but it wasn't a Bloody Mary. Some local favorite drink.
We spent lots of time with Laura talking about love and life and spirit...during our days and nights around the out door fireplace they had set up.
It was kinda like camping, except for we got to sleep in a nice bed and had a bathroom and shower.
My birthday was August 11th and we had a nice dinner. Laura gave me a beautiful card and friendship statue that I just loved. I collect these angel/fairy statues...I have three now, one is one with a teapot, one has a heart and another has flowers. They are just simple and nice...peaceful beauty...
The days we spent at Laura's were great. We got to meet some of their friends from the neighborhood. Went fishing...Well David went fishing...and caught some fish and released them I don't really fish so I took a nap. It was really wonderful. The boat was rocking back and forth, the sky was an overcast gray....hearing the swish....swish of the water....totally lulled me to sleep.
We went on a boat of a man who made his millions selling vacuums and then managing the offices that sell the vacuums. He was really nice and his kids were cool. The day we went on their boat they were doing wake boarding. Which is water skiing and then surfing on the waves that the boat makes. Pretty cool!
Some of the last days we were there they had a family gathering. Where we sang songs and sat around the fire. Laura's brother-in-law and husband played the guitar and we sang...fun fun!
The Lake itself was nice...the weater was pretty overcast the whole time we were there. But it was a pretty peaceful and gentle beginning to our journey.
